A Wicked Thing

Rhiannon Thomas

  • Publisher: HarperTeen (February 24, 2015)
  • ISBN-13: 978-0062303530
  • Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult
  • Pre-Order: Amazon | Barnes & Nobles
  • Synopsis: Rhiannon Thomas's dazzling debut novel is a spellbinding reimagining of what happens after happily ever after. Vividly imagined scenes of action, romance, and political intrigue are seamlessly woven together to reveal a richly created world… and Sleeping Beauty as she's never been seen before. One hundred years after falling asleep, Princess Aurora wakes up to the kiss of a handsome prince and a broken kingdom that has been dreaming of her return. All the books say that she should be living happily ever after. But as Aurora understands all too well, the truth is nothing like the fairy tale. Her family is long dead. Her "true love" is a kind stranger. And her whole life has been planned out by political foes while she slept. As Aurora struggles to make sense of her new world, she begins to fear that the curse has left its mark on her, a fiery and dangerous thing that might be as wicked as the witch who once ensnared her. With her wedding day drawing near, Aurora must make the ultimate decision on how to save her kingdom: marry the prince or run.

Top 5 reasons I want to read this because:
  1. Beautiful Cover: The cover is amazingly beautiful.. Aaah, I love the covers on fantasy books - they're probably my most favorite ones. I love the Sleeping Beauty on the cover with the splash of that beautiful background. I quite love the bold font as well.
  2. The premise: Sleeping Beauty is actually my second least favorite fairytale, the first being Snow White, but I actually like the concept of this novel. It sounds refreshing, even though it's a fantasy retelling.
  3. Eagerly awaiting: It releases soon, so I cannot wait to read and review it! I actually want to buy the physical copy, not just the ebook.
  4. It has good reviews on Goodreads so far, I've seen a few mixed reviews - but it looks like the book might be a bestseller soon. I'm quite looking forward to reading this book soon!
  5. Publishing Company. It's going to be published by one of my favorite publishing companies, and I usually like their books :D
