  • Genre: Contemporary Romance
  • Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Nobles

  • Synopsis: Positive. With two little lines on a pregnancy test, everything in Lizzy Rollins' ordinary life is about to change forever. And all because of one big mistake in Vegas with Ben Nicholson, the irresistibly sexy bass player for Stage Dive. So what if Ben's the only man she's ever met who can make her feel completely safe, cherished, and out of control with desire at the same time? Lizzy knows the gorgeous rock star isn't looking for anything more permanent than a good time, no matter how much she wishes differently. Ben knows Lizzy is off limits. Completely and utterly. She's his best friend's little sister now, and no matter how hot the chemistry is between them, no matter how sweet and sexy she is, he's not going to go there. But when Ben is forced to keep the one girl he's always had a weakness for out of trouble in Sin City, he quickly learns that what happens in Vegas, doesn't always stay there. Now he and Lizzie are connected in the deepest way possible...but will it lead to a connection of the heart?

  • Deep is part of a four-book series called Stage Dive - it is about an all-male band name Stage Dive of course. They're apparently rock stars, famous, and oozing rich. They also happen to be handsome, swoon worthy with tattoos and piercings - need I say more? Anyway this is a stand-alone novel, I haven't read the previous three books in the series. I'm guessing everyone has an happy ending, because they don't have any sequels to their books. Each books is the story of the four men in the band, however, it's told from a female(their soon to be partner's) perspective. I don't think I would have liked a romance novel from a male's perspective. Lizzy Rollins is the younger sister of Anne, who is also Mal's partner, he is another member in the band. Soon, she is introduced to Ben Nicholson and the other members. Plenty of conversations leads to more, and  she finds out that she is pregnant after her one night stand with Ben which complicates her whole life and her relationships.
  •  At first glance, I don't really care for covers with shirtless men on them, the one two things that bothers me is when they have tattoos of ROSES AND HEARTS. Why not something creative? The generic covers sometimes make me miss on a book. Moving on, I didn't expect to like the novel Deep so much, I thought it might be another romance angst novel where the heroine pines over the hero, but it's not. I try not to judge by covers and the synopsis, it's just I've read too many romance novels with the same angst concept. It's more than that here though. I love how this novel expands New Adult to a different horizon, I have finally found a gem in New Adult after months! I did love how the band is like family. They have their ups and downs, but in the end they will will fight and care for each other.
  • Lizzy Rollins is shown as an average heroine with her looks.. She seemed normal you know, I feel many people can relate to her. I liked Lizzy, although, at times she frustrated me. I felt she was senseless when she believes that she can change the "bad boy" who doesn't want to commit to any woman. However, she is not perfect so mistakes are bound to happen. Ben Nicholson does sound like a cute character, he is charming and brooding. He does have a dangerous reputation, however Lizzy is bound to make him her own. I wouldn't say Ben's a player though, players use people - he makes the women aware of what they're getting themselves into before he tries anything.
  • Anne is a great character as well, and I'm excited to read her book later - although, I don't believe she should have sheltered her baby sister so much, Lizzy is an adult! Lizzy isn't famous, she's a psychology student - Ben is a famous rock star who is eight years older than her. She has always been his fan, and she adores him. She even has a crush on him, I suppose that is the same way many teenagers feel about Zayn Malik or Justin Bieber. The beginning sounded like angst, but it did change once the unplanned pregnancy came through. The romance is entertaining, it was funny but sweet at the same time. Their relationship was complicated, and I was rooting for them the whole way! The two do have amazing chemistry, but Ben is warned to stay away from her because she's Anne's younger sister. It is a romance novel, although, it is not as explicit.
  •  Deep is told from the present, past, and again the present - I thought that was different from most romance novels that just flow continuously in one direction. I liked the romance, the author Kylie Scott writes in an addicting way, I was hooked onto this book from the very first line of the first chapter - it usually takes me about two chapters to really get into a book though and this novel has that magic. It does have a kind of forbidden romance, and I did like the drama and character growth it brought. Although, it was not a light and easy romance - an unplanned pregnancy does take a toll on people.
  • It's really easy for many people to judge these two, but they weren't reckless. They thought they were being careful, and I respect Lizzy a lot more for not even thinking about aborting the baby. That takes guts. I did like reading about the consequences the two characters had to face after a one night stand. The plot is quite good, and I would recommend this book for romance lovers! Overall, I would rate Deep four butterflies. I look forward to checking out more of the author's work, I believe she has a new fan now.

Recommended for rockstar romance fans such as Breathe and Lick.

  4. The unplanned pregnancy would definitely demonstrate a strength of character for Lizzy, and a spanner in the works for their relationship. This sounds like a really emotional read! Great review Benish.

  6. I have a love/hate relationship with rock star books. I really want to love the whole fantasy aspect of it but then I get so frustrated. ANd I never understand the BF's sister thing. So?? lol

I also hate the "she's off limits" AFTER you've been with her.

BUT - you seem like those things frustrate you too but enjoy fit anyway so I think I'll give it a try.

  7. I didn't read too much of your review because I have only read book one in the series and will soon be correcting that and didn't want spoilers! But I am glad you loved it enough to give it four stars. :)

  8. I have read a few romance novels told from both the male and female perspective, which works fine for me, I like seeing both sides to the story. Just like you I am not a fan of the shirtless man on the cover, so this cover probably wouldn't have attracted my attention. The present, past and present way of telling a story sounds original. I like these kind of series where each book deals with a different character, but we still meet the characters in later books as well. Great review!

  11. I totally dig tattooed heroes, but I've never read a rockstar novel with an unwanted pregnancy story plot. This is totally going to my TBR along with the rest of the series! ;D Thanks for sharing, and awesome review, as usual!

  12. Agreed, I don't like covers with shirtless men on much either *shrugs*. Glad she's shown more as average, since it pretty much is the normal and does make it easy to relate. Don't seem like my type of read but glad you enjoyed it despite the shirtless guy on the cover. ;)

  14. YEAH, DUDE. WHY WOULD A ROCK STAR HAVE BLOODY TATTOOS OF HEARTS AND ROSES?! When I saw that cover, I mentally cringed. Seriously >_<

But in any case, even though the cover seems generic, the story is more than that. I would love to see how the romance and the development was handled in this one, and the pregnancy even more so! Some books don't handle it as tastefully...

    1. LOL I'm with you on that, I actually put the book face down whenever I was around my brothers otherwise they would have thought I was reading a pornographic novel which IT'S NOT. The story is very different from the usual New Adult angst love stories, I'm happy I found a gem in NA after so long :) Thank you for dropping by Faye ♥

  15. I like the sound of this story even if I'm a little skeptical about rockers being faithful to one woman. I do like the fact that Lizzy gets pregnant after her one night stand. It's nice to see some of the consequences sex can bring in a romance, and then seeing the characters deal with it. I'll have to check this out. Wonderful review, Benish! Also, I don't mind the cover. Nice eye candy is good every once in a while, lol! :)
