Mid-monthly news at Feminist Reflections #9♥

Sunday, April 26, 2015

I wanted to do this post every two weeks showcasing my future posts, past recap, books I have read, book haul and other news!
It's inspired froStacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, and the Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It will be a combination of Book haul and my personal reflections.
  • I watched Fast & Furious 7 with my siblings! It was EPIC, I actually really loved it especially since it's mostly based in Dubai and the ending was pretty sweet as well. Fast 5 and Fast 7 are my personal favorites, the rest are just average. Stunts are pretty badass though.
  • I finally finished watching Live, Die, Repeat(Edge of Tomorrow). It has Tom Cruise in it and it's science fiction. The concept and action is pretty fantastic, I also liked the dark humor in it.

Thank you to Amazon Publishing(I received Angelfall twice accidentally but I'll make sure that baby is in safe hands soon!), Revell Reads, Simon and Schuster, St. Martin's Griffin, Tor Teen, and Grand Central Publishing for all the review copies! I had only requested Angelfall and World after, the rest are unsolicited copies. Summer Secrets was from a giveaway I won thanks to Shelf Awareness Newsletter. I also received a bookmark from Katie McGarry :)

I rarely buy books anymore unless I really want to read them - these have been on my TBR for quite some time, and the hype is insane! I have wanted to read them for a while, I spent almost over two hours deciding on what to order and to make sure I don't overspend. The total for these books was around $37 on Amazon which wasn't bad at all. I don't buy completely new copies most of the time. I mostly buy like new/very good books. They all shipped two days later! Shipping was mainly free because of my trial Amazon Prime membership. I probably won't buy physical books until the next year now. I finished three of these books already, and they were wonderful as expected.

  1. It looks like you have some fun new books to read :) and I'd say you got a great deal on Amazon! I'm finally starting to see the joy of pre-loved books, it's nice to know someone read it and (hopefully) enjoyed it before you did.

    1. I agree, I'm still stuck on reading old books from years back. I find them more better somehow than a lot of new releases.

  4. I actually really enjoyed Live, Die Repeat / Edge of Tomorrow quite a lot too. (It felt a bit like watching someone learn how to master a video game. Which was kind of awesome.) And wow, lots of good books - I still haven't read Magonia, and am hoping I get to that one soon.

  8. Magonia is a book I really want to read and I am curious about that one! I also have The Boy Next Door so I should try reading that one. Hm, I would have to say that the Book Thief is a great read and I sincerely hope you like it and the movie afterwards as well. I went to see Fast and Furious seven and LOVED It as well. Great movie, although I did have to suspend my disbelief somewhat in places <3 I haven't seen them all though, only the first one although my older sister filled me in with what I needed to know as I watching. And the ending tribute part :'(

I recently bought Fast and Furious 2 and I hope to watch that tonight.

    1. I know, the ending tribute is just so cute and depressing, it actually brought tears into my eyes ♥ I watched the ending about five times now. Hope you enjoy the previous books in the series! :) I'm reading The Book Thief right now, so here's to hoping I like it!

  10. GORGEOUS haul of books across the board here Benish^^ I *still* NEED to read my copies of Angelfall, World After, These Broken Stars, Fire and Thorns, Magonia AND Halfway to the Grave XD Sigh, there are just too many books to read and not enough time to read them all! Looks like you had a lot of fun, bookish and otherwise. I'm happy to see that you enjoyed Fast 7 - I still haven't seen it but I want to. Congrats on ALL your goodies and have a wonderful week! xx

Yay for Halfway to the Grave, I've finished the series and it's a long one, but definitely worth the read! Also THE BOOK THIEF is one of my favourites of all time. I'm super excited to hear what you think of them! I also really enjoyed Edge of Tomorrow as well.

  14. Great haul!

I've only ever seen the first Fast & Furious. So it sounds like the rest are worth watching then? I enjoyed Edge of Tomorrow (you don't name change after it's been out people, my brain cannot remember these things.) Best Tom Cruise movie I've ever seen.

It's good to see that you are liking the new books you've read so far. I'm so picky with buying new books too, that I get so disappointed when I spend money on a book and don't enjoy it. Looking forward to all your reviews.
