Beauty 101 - Skin Care + Hair Care Routines

Friday, March 07, 2014

Hello world! Heres one more blog post for you all, hope you enjoy! This is for the people who requested what products I use for my skin, hair, makeup use, and such things. Heres my skincare and haircare beauty secrets revealed for all my ladies out there and my brothers :D

Disclaimer: This is NOT a paid sponsorship or paid advertisement on these products, neither were any of these products sent for a review.

Let's start off with almost everyone's favorite besides makeup - Skincare. I get a lot of compliments on my skin, people always ask how is it so clear .. and white( lol strange).. and I'm usually bare-face most of the times unless it's a special occasion. I'm comfortable in my skin without makeup, and you should be too! I don't use any whitening/bleaching creams guys, its genetics. I stick to mainly 3-4 skincare items daily. My family is filled with ghosts. If you think I'm light, you should see my siblings and mother. I rarely get acne, when I was in middle school - I had a little acne but it cleared up once I aged. Everyone has a problem, mine is with blackheads! UGH! I hate them especially because I'm always touching my face and stuff.

Anyway, I have combo skin - it gets oily at times and really dry at others especially in winter. Oily skin is good in a way because as you age, you will look younger. Dryer skin rarely get acne though so that's the benefit of that(blessed with both hooray!) My oiliness is mild, my skin lately has been more dry since its winter. As summer approaches, it will get more oily. Its really important to take care of your skin, you won't need as much makeup to cover the flaws then. Heres a tip, exfoliate at least 2x a week, but not too often because it can get harsh and drink plenty of water. I drink atleast 4 water bottles a day and stay away from spicy food. Maybe I'll do a diet and fitness post another day, anyway here are the skincare products I use: (These skincare pictures posted aren't mine)
SkinCare Routine
1) Ivory Soap
This soap is really good for acne skin, mine isn't really acne but it still helps since I do break out once in a while. Beyonce uses this too! It helps clean my face and leaves it soft. You can find this at local drugstores for $5-$7.

2) Neutrogena Grapefruit Daily Scrub
I love this scrub, I've been using it for several years now since high school. I don't go a day without it - After washing my face with ivory soap, I use this. I use this 2x a day morning and night. I use this to wash my makeup off as well and olive oil to remove makeup. This is one of my favorite products. Its great because it smells amazing and isn't too harsh, it leaves my face fresh! You can find this at drugstores for $8-11. .

3) Neutrogena Dry-Touch Sunblock 50+
I use this on a daily basis even on the winter time, I hate getting tanned and burned. I put this on after the Neutrogena daily scrub. It feels really light as well, leaves my skin smooth. Heres a tip, wear 45+ sunscreen during summer but wear a 15+ or more sunscreen during the winter as well. Even though, it's not sunny - the sun's still out there and the UV rays can still get you - better to be safe than sorry. Protect yourself, you wouldn't want to get skin cancer. You can find this at drugstores for $9-15.

4)Fusion Beauty Prine Results Tinted Mosturizer SPF 15 Sunscreen -
I use this almost on a daily basis and I wear it in Ivory. It works as moisturizer but is also tinted with coverage so you just get the right amount for your face. I love how it looks so natural and it gives you an infinite amount of glow on your face. I usually get it from amazon. It ranges from $6-8, pretty cheap for something that works so well.

5) The Body Shop: Tea Tree Facial Wash
I use this occasionally, 2x a week or so. The only thing that bothers me is the smell, it smells like medicine or something very earthy. It's very organic and I love organic products. Otherwise, it's a good facial wash - clears the dirt from your skin and purifies it. Here's a tip, when washing your face - use hot water so it'll open your pores and then use cold water so your pores will close. You can buy this from The Body Shop or Amazon for $10-$13

6) Purity Made Simple (Philosophy) Facial Cleanser
For occasional use, this is really great - it does purify your skin and clears up the dirty stuff from your face. It dissolves it and makes your face fresh and almost new like since it does deep cleansing! Deep cleansing pores is a a must, if you don't - your pores will be enlarged and dark in color, it will be obvious - big pores are just .. eehhh no one wants them. This is kinda pricey, but it will really benefit you. You can buy it from Sephora and other stores for $35-$40

7) Sephora Collection Pore Cleansing Pad
This little thing is amazing! I use it when I do deep cleaning and exfoliation, it works more magic than your hands. I just apply whatever skincare facial/scrub/etc it is with my hands and then rub it with this. It really cleans your pores and helps your skin a a lot! You can even stick this on your mirror. You can get it from Sephora for $5-6.

8) Bio Oil  Specialist Skincare
I use this for skin brightening and to smooth uneven skin textures! This is one of the MOST amazing products out there - I would recommend this regardless of what your skin type is. I've been using it for the past six months and it's made a pretty BIG difference in my skin! My skin is much more softer, smoother, brighter, and fresher than here - brought great results! With this by my side, I don't need makeup. I leave this on overnight, in the morning it will be absorbed. You can get it for $12-$15 at drugstores or amazon.

Just a heads up - start using eye creams at 18 years old or so, its to prevent wrinkles and lines -  try home-remedies - they're very healthy and help a lot such as, avocado masks, yogurt masks, and egg masks. Yogurt masks help your face look young and fresh! They're easy to make & the remedies are all over the search engine.

Haircare Routine now!
Yes, that's me and my natural hair, It's naturally straight and I don't wear extensions. My hair is a couple of inches below my waist. I trim my hair 2x a year - I don't do it too often because some egoistic beauticians chop my hair too short, and I don't need really need trimming as much. I rarely use product in my hair, I stay away from heat and blow drying unless its a special occasion. I wash my hair 2x a week, I don't do it often because it'll dry my hair out and ruin it. I use to color my hair a lot, and one time I did blonde highlights which left my hair damaged for a year, now its been restored and repaired! If you have the same problem, try deep cleansing. I massage my hair with Olive/Coconut oil overnight and in the morning I wash it off.

I don't stick to one shampoo or conditioner. People might say that's bad, but it actually benefits mine. I've been switching shampoos for several years, I just use whatever works good for me. I mostly use shampoo and conditioners that contain some kind of oil whether its Argan, castor, olive or coconut oil such as these shampoos: They all work pretty amazing for me. I use these shampoos and their conditioners. The shampoo and conditioners are separate! 2 in 1 isn't good. You can usually get them for $10-$15 from drugstores or amazon. Tip: Put conditioner in your hair for at least five minutes if you color a lot, sometimes I apply conditioner twice (These pictures aren't mine)

Shampoos & Conditions
Brazilian Keratin Therapy Shampoo & Conditioner
Suave Professionals Shampoo & conditioner
Dove Damage Therapy Shampoo
and Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo.

Garnier Fructis Sleek&Shine Anti-Frizz Serum.
This is actually the only built up product I use for my hair now, and I use it once only when my hair is wet. This way it brushes our more smoothly I've been using this since I was in middle school, and have never stopped since then. I love the smell of it! Smells amazing like fresh flowers mhmmm I would eat it if I could.

That's about it :D

If you have any questions, let me know & I'll be happy to help.
