Synopsis:
From the New York Times bestselling author of the Legend series.

"Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites... Marie Lu just happens to be one of my favorite authors after I have read her Legend series, her books are fascinating with original concepts. I was so thrilled that this new series just came out just five days ago & I have already read it - so excited to do this review. I have never really got teary-eyed in Dystopian or fantasy novels ever before, her books happen to be the only one that do. This book amazed me, it is a fantasy series and more darker than Legend with sinister plots. I expected a better cover though, all of her novel covers seem to be plain.

The protagonist Adelina is so unstable, and I love it. Sometimes she seems as a hero and other times anti-hero. Regardless I liked Adelina Amouteru. She is so dark and flawed, but not exactly evil or corrupted.

It's clearly her series.  I love strong female characters in novels much strong than the typical dominating main characters.  She is like an outcast in the novel, because she is scarred - and she later finds out that she has a special gift. I couldn't put this book down, the beginning just brings you in the series. It gives off a promising start.
The plot build up was surreal - I cannot wait for the next installment in this series. A movie based on this series would be amazing, half of the scenes are action and magical.

The Young Elites are a team of malfetto's - they're scarred, powerful, and beautiful in their own way. All of the characters are so complex. It's not about good vs. evil here, it's about right vs wrong. The lead character Enzo and leader of the Young Elites is so intimidating yet fascinating. This series is about love, power, deceit, and so many secrets. If you love dystopian and paranormal books, you would like this one.

I loved her Legend series much more, but I really liked this book. I would rate it a 5 out of 5 stars.

He doesn’t follow the rules, is in a notorious motorcycle gang, and doesn’t care if he breaks the law or someone’s bones.
After a chance encounter, Vincent starts to take an interest in the innocent girl who is so different to him. Despite Vincent’s infamous reputation, Estella is also intrigued by him.."

Aaah .. forbidden love is fascinating, sometimes. Vincent Madden is the type of man I would clearly stay away from him. It's not because he has tattoos and he drives a motorcycles, I love motorcycles - but he is in a notorious gang, but hey people seem to like bad boys? In novels, they sound fascinating but in real life - I don't think so.

But there is more than meets the eye. As Vincent's character progresses in the novel, you see a different side to him. You can see the tender caring side to his mother who had left him, and he loves his brothers. This book shows, people might do bad things for a living, but they can still be a good person. I clearly read this book for Vincent, I mean, I liked Estella too. She was sweet. The beginning was promising, and I'm glad it wasn't slow. It was well written - the characters chemistry was cute too.

The thing I disliked about this novel is the ending.  It ended suddenly, it was progressing towards the finale - but then whoop de do, the end. It does takes a point off for me, but I don't completely dislike the book because of this. I was wondering when there were only 5 minutes remaining in the novel, that where was the action? What led to the decisions, and what happens afterwards?

It's like BOOM! The end.

e

I wish the author Komal would have gone more detail in what happened and how it happened.I had questions which left me confused such as what happened with Seth and the dad afterwards. I'm stuck between giving it a 3.5 or 4, but I would give it 4 stars still. It was a great story with fascinating characters, but it would have been 5 stars, if the ending was executed well.

It ended before Estella's and Vincent's story could begin.
