  • Genre: Teen, Young Adult
  • Synopsis: Ryan Hunter’s parties are legend. And tonight she’s going to be there. Lisa Matthews has been in love with her best friend since kindergarten. They’re close as can be, they’ve even slept in each other’s bed. But they’ve never kissed. Weeks away from her seventeenth birthday, Lisa hopes that soon things will change between them. But when Tony comes home after summer soccer camp, his mind is focused on someone else. And worse, that new girl is a soccer player.Fighting for her love, Lisa gets carried away and makes a stupid decision: Without the least bit of talent or any passion for the sport whatsoever, she goes for the co-ed soccer team. The tryouts are hell, the first match ends bloody, and the morning after the selection party she wakes up in the worst place possible—in the arms of the captain of the soccer team. The hottest guy in school. Ryan Hunter.

This was such a sweet & short novella - I loved reading it beginning to the end. Lisa Matthews is in love with her best friend Tony, but he has never looked at her in that way. She ends up joining the soccer team to spend more time with Tony, and she runs into Ryan Hunter who seems to be crushing on her. He is the most good-looking guy at school & the captain of the soccer team.

  • Play With Me is a light & romantic read, the title might seem cringy - but it's not what you think. Since this is a teen novel, it's basically speaking about the sport Soccer which Ryan ultimately starts training her for her. While the book isn't about sports as much, it is rather cute and swoon worthy. I loved Ryan, and Tony annoyed me the most. The synopsis is not about a one night stand at all guys, this is YA.
  • I do wish Play With Me was a full length novel though, I wanted to read more of the novel even after it finished. I rarely like love triangles as I have mentioned probably a dozen times, but if the novella is executed well - it turns out great then. I think love triangles are much better in novels in these days, they don't seem too cliche now.
  • I read this book in one setting, and I could not put it down. It's a light read, and hilarious as well. I giggled and laughed a long with the characters - YA will always probably be my most favorite genre after Literary Fiction. The innocent love is adorable♥ It had great romance. I highly recommend this read, it's short and sweet. This is going to be added to my newly favorites, it's five butterflies from my side.

  • *Note: The synopsis of the second book gives the story away, so I wouldn't recommend reading it if you haven't read the first book.
  • Synopsis: She didn’t look my way. Never had. And why would she? Her universe was rotating around my soccer buddy, Tony Mitchell. As long as I had known Tony, he’d always come in a double pack. He and Lisa were what some people at school called M&M. I hated that term. Hated how she stood on her tiptoes now and slung her arms around his neck. Hated how— Dammit! Was she going to kiss him?! Ryan Hunter kissed more girls than he cares to remember. But the only one he ever wanted is in love with his best friend. Watching Lisa Matthews’ obsession with Tony Mitchell is a torture Ryan conceals from everyone. Until after a five-week soccer camp, where Tony gets involved with someone else, things suddenly take a different turn. Ryan knows if he doesn’t make a move now and grab his chance, he might never get another. When Tony asks him to distract Lisa, Ryan is only too happy. He subtly seduces her first into his soccer team and later on to his party. He does all in his power to make her see that he’s not just an insufferable playboy but a guy who cares about her. Some one-on-one soccer training, a passionate kiss—everything seems to be going the way he wants. Except Ryan didn’t reckon on his best friend showing up at the worst possible moment and destroying everything… This book can be read as a stand-alone, but to fully enjoy it, you should read its companion book PLAY WITH ME first.

  • The cover seems generic from the previous book, Ryan Hunter is a stand alone novel from Ryan's perspective. Ryan Hunter is Tony's best friend, and he basically likes Lisa Mathews. I always find it sweet reading about characters who have been secretly in love with someone for a while, but never have told them.
  • This is Ryan's side of the story. I really liked reading his perspective as well, I noticed a lot that Ryan always talked about Lisa's looks the most and his love seemed superficial at some parts, but my thoughts changed as the story progresses furthermore. I realized he truly does love Lisa beyond her beauty.
  • Ryan Hunter is a cute novella as well, although, I prefer Lisa's perspective much more in Play With Me. They're both adorable novellas that I would recommend. Again, the novels are short - I wish they were longer because they would both make wonderful novels. They're simple & sweet. I would rate it 3 butterflies.

  2. I do enjoy a cute novella every now and then. I used to play soccer, so it'll be cool to read about the characters playing the sport. I'm really intrigued to read The Girl Is Mine. I also like reading stories about a character who's secretly in love with another, so I just might have to pick these up :)

  7. Blah, I couldn't agree more, love triangles these days are completely corny and predictable. I don't think I've come across a story that I hadn't cringed at lol. I'm intrigued over the stories above though, even though Tony sounds like he'll annoy the crap through me too.

    Happy Holidays!

    1. Most love triangles make me cringe and feel weird - I think I have probably liked about only 3. I really liked Vampire Academy series though, it had an amazing concept with the love triangle.

  14. These sound like some really cute novellas to read! Especially the first one, and I would like to read it. I am not very much into sport novels so I like that it isn't so much the focus. It sounds like a light and sweet romantic read for a warm day outside or so :)
