Synopsis: A year after one of their identical twin daughters, Lydia, dies in an accident, Angus and Sarah Moorcroft move to the tiny Scottish island Angus inherited from his grandmother, hoping to put together the pieces of their shattered lives. But when their surviving daughter, Kirstie, claims they have mistaken her identity--that she, in fact, is Lydia--their world comes crashing down once again. As winter encroaches, Angus is forced to travel away from the island for work, Sarah is feeling isolated, and Kirstie (or is it Lydia?) is growing more disturbed.

When a violent storm leaves Sarah and her daughter stranded, they are forced to confront what really happened on that fateful day.

  • The Ice Twins is a thriller about Angus and Sarah Moorcroft and their twin daughters. They seem to had the perfect marriage with precious twins. However, one of the young daughters Lydia dies in an accident, now their surviving daughter Kristie claims she is actually the deceased twin Lydia. Now, as winter approaches Sarah is stuck on an island during a storm with her daughter. She must confront what really happened on the day one of her daughters died..
  • The character Angus and Sarah are both flawed characters, they're not as likable as one would prefer, although Angus is more preferable than Sarah. They lost one of their twin daughters in an accident, and they're having doubts about their marriage. Previously, they were in doubts although, things had gotten much more worse between them. A lack of communication and barriers have come into their suffering marriage. One of my favorite aspects of the novel was the parent's feelings, their insecurities and loneliness are getting the worst out of them and the novel portrayed it well. There are itty bitty parts of the romance, but the actual plot revolves around the remaining twin Kristie. My favorite character is Kristie, the child is creepy yet she sounds fascinating. At times, the reader can feel sympathetic towards the child, but then again you can get creeped out by her. They say children don't really lie..
  • AT first, the pacing of The Ice Twins is a bit slow, but then it does speed up eventually. I'm not sure I understood exactly what happened in the end, it wasn't executed poorly though, but some answers were left unanswered. The psychological aspect of the novel was intriguing enough, it is a suspenseful novel, and the thrill feeling is definitely there.  It is definitely a creepy novel, imagine your child told you she wasn't the one who you thought was supposedly alive? The actual plot of the book was exciting and one of my favorite concepts in books, there's not many books written on twins so it's always interesting to read about them. The writing is compelling and atmospheric - this novel gives you the creep. It's a compelling thriller that keeps on your toes. It does have plenty of potential, and I did enjoy the novel for the most part. I would rate this novel 3 butterflies.

  2. Recommended for fans of Dangerous Girls?!? I absolutely adored that book (and when I mean adored I really mean "was emotionally scared and mind-blown for life), so I guess that means I'll definitely have to give this one a try. ;) I'm a sucker for a good thriller, and this one sounds like just that.

Thanks for putting this under my radar - definitely putting a hold on this one at the library! Thanks for sharing and for the wonderful giveaway opportunity too! <3

  3. I love stories about twins, too, always fascinating, but especially these types because they're creepy and (well, mainly creepy) and definitely keep you on your toes, and I do like how the characters aren't exactly likeable (and that it shows their marriage realistically, too). GOOD LUCK! :D

  6. There seems like a lot of mystery in this one and you have left it open without revealing the mystery as well! I want to know what happened on that day that they are trying to ignore. And I wonder what you could possibly be hinting at with Kristie not being as nice as she seems. I have to read this one now! :c

And thrillers are my favorites, so I'm glad you thought the plot was exciting! And recommended for fans of Dangerous Girls? Hell yeah I'm in! Fantastic review, Benish!

  8. There was a book that was also recently released with a really similar storyline, but one twin took on the persona of the deceased twin and lived her life as her sister. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called though. I'm really interested to see the family dynamics and the dynamics of their marriage after losing a child. Wonderful review Benish, glad you could enjoy this one for the most part <3

It's like, not much originality there :/ But I'd still love to read this because it sounds AWESOME. Sad to see the slow beginning, but anyway, I'm glad the actual plot was very exciting. 16. I added this to my TBR because I really do love thrillers, and I'm really interested in seeing how the relationship became destructive for these two parents and what really happened to the sisters (sisters again?! HAha I just read Vanishing Girls and that one broke my heart. I'm not sure I can take another whammy to the soul!). Intriguing review!

  18. Oooh it definitely sounds creepy! I kept imagining those two creepy twins that stands in the corridor in that movie...I don't even remember what it's called but twins creep me out sometimes. What an interesting premise as well...it's disturbing just thinking about your child telling you she's not the one that's meant to be alive. What in the world?!
