  • Synopsis: Grace and Tippi.

  • Tippi and Grace.

  • Two sisters. Two hearts. Two dreams. Two lives. But one body.
Grace and Tippi are conjoined twins, joined at the waist, defying the odds of survival for sixteen years. They share everything, and they are everything to each other. They would never imagine being apart. For them, that would be the real tragedy.
But something is happening to them. Something they hoped would never happen. And Grace doesn't want to admit it. Not even to Tippi.
How long can they hide from the truth—how long before they must face the most impossible choice of their lives.
  • Grace and Tippi are identical, conjoined twins. They are joined at the waist, and for the past sixteen years they have shared everything. The girls each have two hearts, and two separate dreams from one another. They have two different lives, but they share the same body. However, now something is happening to them, something they never hoped would ever occur to them. Now, they must decide if they would rather run and hide from the truth, or make the most impossible choice of their lives.
  • The cover, title, and premise of the novel is just fantastic. The presentation is appealing and fascinating. I have been highly anticipating this novel since I have heard of it's release date. I have never actually read a novel about conjoined twins, although I've seen many movies on them. Twins have always sounded amazing, a person who is your other half. In this case, the person is literally your other half. I rated One five stars because the emotional impact of the novel felt quite strong, and I did tear up a tittle. It's a powerful novel, one that you might remember for the rest of your lifetime. The writing and everything else is four stars, however, I happened to fall in love with this book so it deserves a five stars from me.
  • Grace and Tippy are two shades of the same person.. sometimes. Grace seems more well-behaved, nicer, and calm although, Tippy is more blunt, loud, and outspoken. The two sisters love each other dearly, and they can't imagine life without one another. It was intriguing to see how the girl's stories revolve around each other. Most conjoined twins choose separation in the end, so I have always wonder how their lives were before surgery or even if they choose not to proceed through it. How do they share a bathroom together? What happens when they're married? How do they work? What happens when one of them loves/likes another person? What happens when they decide to separate? It's a bit obvious with the premise that separation might be involved. The predictability is there, although it's still wonderful to know what occurs next in the novel. So many questions, and it's fascinating the book touched on these topics. It shows the struggle of two girls, and how they have two separate minds and hearts, yet their lives must revolve around each other. It's a thought-provoking novel and I loved both of the girls. Grace plays a bigger role in the story, so I was a tad bit closer to her although, the twins were amazing and hilarious together. It's clearly her story, although I wish Tippy had a fair share of the book too.
  • The world-building plot was just amazing, as a reader, I couldn't wait to find out what happens next in the novel. The writing was beautiful and in prose. Usually, I'm not a huge fan of prose writing because a lot of blank spaces bother me in writing. I'm not too fond of poetic language, although I like it much more after reading all of Ellen Hopkin's books. It's more of a fast paced novel and the verses go by quickly. The verses were beautiful though, and they did make you feel quite a lot without saying much. The writing style is effective, and the author sure delivers in the novel. There's nothing I actually disliked about the novel, although I do wonder how the ending will progress more. It's a satisfying ending and there aren't any cliffhangers, however, I wonder if the author has a sequel in mind. If not, it's still a stunning novel. I'm definitely going to check out more of the author's work now. Young adult literature this year has really taken off, beautiful concepts with ordinary characters. One does touch the reader's heart through the themes of love, friendship, and family.

Thank you for reading this! Have an amazing month of September - Leave your blog links in the comments & I'll be sure to check them out & drop by :) Stay in tuned pretty creatures..

  1. I definitely have been planning on reading this one! The idea of conjoined twins is such a unique one to literature, and I know I have never read a book like this, or even heard of one. What makes me all the merrier is knowing this one is written so well. Being written in verse is not something I am used to, but I am looking forward to giving it a chance.

  5. I have been seeing this around everywhere recently! Like you, I have seen a lot of TV shows and movies (mostly Grey's Anatomy and such) with conjoined twins, but I hadn't even HEARD of a book featuring them. This seems like such an eye opening read and this review is just perfect. Bonus points for the Pikachu gif! XD

  6. I haven't read any books about conjoined twins, but for some reason the idea freaks me out a bit, it seems so weird to be actually attached to someone else. I do wonder how that would work being conjoined like that and how that impacts their lives. I am not a fan of poetic writing styles, but it sounds like it worked here. Great review!

    1. Yes, I agree it would be really uncomfortable literally sharing your body with someone 24/7. Thank you Lola ♥

  14. This book sounds so SO beautiful. I honestly don't care about predictability as long as the story is still good and the characters compensate me for that. One definitely sounds like a book that's so unique and creative that I won't care about the predictability.
    Lovely review, Benish! :)

  15. I've never really read the synopsis of the book, BUT OH MY I MUST READ THIS NOW :D I love the way you described it; it's very intriguing and convincing! Although, I do have to agree with that one question you raised -- how do they share a bathroom? Like you said, separation is something that they would obviously need at some point o.O Anyway, great review! I'll read this soon <3

  16. I totally agree with all of this! I loved it- I think the point of the story was just so, so lovely. The family relationships were SO realistic, and I think everything about this book was well done. I would have liked to maybe be a bit more connected to Grace, but I understand that it's hard to do that in prose, and I think the prose worked SO well for this book. (I am usually not a fan either, but it worked!) Fabulous review!

  17. This sounds like a truly beautiful post Benish with the conjoined twins and their unique situation and character development. A Shame one of them is left out and it definitely poses some interesting questions! It sounds like it made an impact though.

  18. I WANT THIS SO BAD. I wasn’t a huge fan of Sarah’s Breathe duology (too typical, run-of-the-mill dystopian for my liking) but I really did love Apple and Rain so I am really excited to hear that you liked this so much, even if it was a little predictable. I think the concept of being a conjoined twin is so interesting and I’m curious to see how that will transfer into the story. Thanks for sharing this wonderful review Benish! ♥

  20. OHMYGOD. I WANT TO READ THIS.

Badly. Not only because it's about a conjoined twin and I've never read anything of the sort and I love books about not so ordinary people, because it sounds beautiful. And damn, that cover! Your review is beautiful, and it's making me so excited for this book. *flails*

  23. The synopsis really grabbed me immediately but your 5 stars are really making me want to get this too! Ahh this sounds so thought-provoking and heart breaking, a must read. I don't think I've come across a YA book about conjoined twins before either.

  24. I've heard such good things about this one, but I was never really sucked in until now. Your review makes me want to pick it up :D It reminds me a lot of Amy Zhang's series, and that turned out pretty well for me. Plus, any read that does friendship well is worth a look at ^-^ #supportingcharactersftw Thanks for stopping by The Silver Words, and I'm glad you loved this one!
