2017 Debut Author Challenge is hosted by ThatArtsyReaderGirl

  • Hi readers, I'm back!  It's that time of the year again. These are the reading challenges I'm hoping to participate in 2017!  I love reading challenges, they're super fun, even if you don't beat the challenge.Last year goals are here.

  • Goodreads list of 2017 Debut Author Challenge books.
  • Google Spreadsheet of 2017 debuts.
  • I'm hoping to read 15 2017 Debut Books & oh, I did pass my challenge last year!
  • Self-published books do not count, and ARC's count as long as they're published in 2016 but not in 2017.
  • You can join the challenge whenever you want.
  • The debuts must have a publishing date in 2016 and must have been read between January 1, 2016 and January 31, 2016 (this extra month allows readers adequate time to read December debuts) in order to count.
  • This challenge is open internationally, so are the monthly prize packs.
  • Below are some of the books that I'm hoping to read soon .!

Books Read for Debut Challenge:
1)

  • Well, I failed my challenge last year LOL. I think I only read about 3 retellings.. last year I just slacked off due to .. life. Oh well. I'm hoping to read 12+ retellings, the difficult level.
  • Listopia on Goodreads
  • The main goal is to read fairy tale retellings, myths, legends, folktales, retellings of real people. You can read books from any year or audience, as long as they are retellings of some classic tales out there.
  • Below are some of the books that I find interesting and I'm hoping to read. The covers are so pretty, I already ordered Heartless so lets see what the raving is about :D I have an ARC of RoseBlood so can't wait to read them.

Books Read for FairyTale Retelling Challenge:

This is the challenge called The United States of YA hosted by Epic Reads.

They have a different YA book for each state, these are all very popular books in the genre section. So far, I have read 15 books out of 47 which is sad.. I'm hoping to read all of the books listed on the challenge, let's see how it goes for this year! I'm aiming to read atleast 5 books from this challenge this year.

This is an unofficial challenge though, they don't have any link ups or anything - you're free to join by no bounds. Below are some of the books I'm hoping to read.

Books Read:
1) Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
2) My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
3) The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
4)  Divergent by Vernonica Roth
5) The Fault in Our Stars by John Geen
6) Wake by Lisa McMann
7) Crank by Ellen Hopkins
8) Left & Leftovers by Sarah Tregay
9) The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessn
10) If I Stay by Gayle Forman
2015
11) The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
12) Everneath by Brodi Ashton
13) Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
2016
14) Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
15) Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

Personal Netflix + Series Challenge
  • This is a new challenge I started since I'm addicted to watching shows on netflix & I'm starting to like book series now.
  • I made this challenge to keep me on track with shows that I watch and book series that I want to read for 2017 since they go on forever.
  •  I tried looking separately for these challenges, but I couldn't find any that related more to me so wallah I came up with my own!
  • Here are the shows I want to finish watching or start watching. I'm hoping to watch 10 shows and read 5 series.

Personal
New Adult Books challenge

A challenge I set for myself two years ago. NA has been around for a few years now and most of the novels have failed to impress me, although, NA is one of my favorite genre. It's a complicated relationship.

Goodreads Listopia.  I'm hoping to discover some gems in a bunch of stones. Last year, I didn't read that many NA books, the most 5. I'm hoping to read 10 NA books next year for 2017. Below are some of the books I'm hoping to read.

Books Read in 2017:
1)
  • Goodreads Challenge 2017 (Personal Challenge)
  • My goal for next year is to read 200 books, last year my goal was 100.. and I beat it by reading 133 books :D Let's see how it goes this year. 7 challenges this year, not that bad. I don't like having too many because I can't keep up then :D What challenges are you guys doing, and have you read some of these books?

Shukran for reading this! Leave your blog links in the comments & I'll be sure to check them out & drop by :) Stay in tuned pretty creatures..

  1. Wow, so impressed with all these reading challenges you're setting for yourself in 2017! My biggest goal is to make it to 50 books, and pushing myself to read every night as I've been super busy this year. I definitely want to ensure that reading is put in the front seat again in 2017!

Good luck with all your challenges :)

  2. Ooh, this is a great list of challenges!! I kind of tell myself I should participate in a challenge sometime...but I end up just doing the Goodreads one and leaving it at that.😂 Because I'm lazy apparently omg. But the fairy tale retelling one looks like good fun!!

  3. This is an AWESOME list!! I hate to admit it but classics are so hard for me to read. I really SHOULD, though, because aren't all books in some form or another based off the classics?? Maybe?? :D Well, I won't know unless I read them, right? *sigh*

Thanks for sharing the links for the Goodreads challenges, too!! I have such a hard time finding debut authors on Lists page in Goodreads!!! I love Goodreads but I don't use the lists enough :(

    Good luck, girl!!!

  5. I also enjoy reading challenges although I am joining fewer of them next year than I did this year. I am joining the goodreads challenge, Coyer, the 2017 new release challenge and I am setting a few goals for myself I hope to reach this year.

Good luck with all your challenges! they sound like a fun ones. I don't think I've read any of the books on your list, although I have heard of quite some of them.

  8. I love the idea of that Netflix/ series challenge, great idea! The US of YA looks like a good one too. I kinda want to try that Frost Blood. Scarlet and The Goddess Test looks good too.

I didn't do any challenges last year but I'm doing three in 2017, so it will be a nice change.

  9. Good luck with all of your challenges. I haven't done any challenges before but did sign up for the Blogger Shame challenge this year since I really need to catch up on reading old ARCs. I am planning to decrease my Goodreads goal this year since I cut it too close this year and it stressed me out.

  13. Wow these are amazing goals! I love the idea of coming up with some of your own, too! I always do the debut one because it is low pressure and I love that! I was thinking of doing a few others, like some series ones, but... who knows. Maybe I will. But I wouldn't count on it hahha. I do the Goodreads one too, though I picked the number from random.org because I was indecisive hahah. I am starting Wintersong tonight, so fingers crossed that it's great! And I really want to read And I Darken too, I hope I can get to it soon. Good luck with all of your wonderful challenges!!

  20. So many 2017 challenges! I wish you all the luck with them, and hope you get to complete them all :D Completing challenges is such a great feeling.

I had three challenges in 2016 and I managed to complete them all. I'm not sure I'll do any challenges other than the generic Goodreads one in 2017 because I kind of want to do my own thing with my reading this year, and not feel pressured by anything!

  21. Love your list! I didn't get to read that much in 2016 but I'm hoping this year I can read some amazing books! Good luck and hope you read a ton of amazing books :)
